woman Not only she is an alpha, a lion, she is vulnerable, kind, lovable, wicked clever, mature and so inspiring Jane makes me feel better about a lot of things about myself and her strength is so great and infective I love her The Cobalt Empire I accept all the crumps from them, and I need I ADORED Cobalt siblings so much The dramatics, the plotting, the huge sense of admiration all them have for one another They love each other so much and it shows They re also so supportive and I really need of them Sulli I just like her so much and I wish she was present in the story Cobaretti. I like them together a lot They were very perfect for each other. What I didn t like Cobaretti. It s not a joke, I like them and dislike them at the same time They were TOO perfect for each other There was no learning Jane is a bit secure of herself but that s it Even though they have off the chart s chemistry and steamy sex, there wasn t really any challenge I am not saying Jane should have Rose and Connor s banter and I m not comparing her with her mother, but Jane and Thatcher learned nothing from each other that was that meaningful She already knew he was a good man and he had a past He could be both tough and gentle, she had known that Thatcher knew how amazing Jane was and how caring, challenging and down to earth, etc He knew this already None of the moments, while hot and adorable, represented something they didn t like of each other and worked through that in order to grow as a couple So, I was not sold on them At least not 100% Lunelly Just no Not only this will fuck the Hale dynamic, but Loren WILL NEVER allow her daughter to be with Donnelly And before you say that it s Luna s decision, and I agree on that, it is a bad call from the authors You don t HAVE to pair off everyone and Donnelly is almost 10 years older than Luna It will look like he took advantage of her regardless if it was her idea and it will, most definitely, fuck all the bodyguards The Tri Force will question everyone The parents will lose their shit This is not like Jane and Thatcher because Jane is older and the whole fake dating thing This is different This will be like Ryke and Daisy all over again but WAY WORSE Kitsulli. Sullivan and Akara are, most probably, the purest of them all Their relationship should be a subplot in all the series until we get to their book and they will be damaged if words is out about Luna and Donnelly, because I don t think it will be just once Kitsulli is what they authors may be sacrificing for Lunelly and that s not fair. There are points on each side I loved how Jane reminded me of Lily so much She had these thoughts or quirks that were so Lily like, I was beaming I liked how Maximoff, Farrow and Jane bonded and how regal The Cobalt Empire is, but I have concerns I don t know where the series is headed and like I said you don t have to pair off everyone We are getting another Cobaretti book and I hope Jane and Thatcher make mistakes, show their flaws and love each other because of them We are also getting another Marrow book and I am not excited about it It should be Sulli s flag 70 likesLike see review View all 3 comments Jan 31, 2018 TheCrazyWorldOfABookLover rated it liked it It pains me to say this, and never in a million years did I think I d rate a KB Ritchie book anything lower than 5 stars, but I just didn t LOVE this one I will absolutely read every book to come, and I m looking forward to the next installment But this one didn t have the unique sparkle all the other KB books have had I read a review that described most of my thoughts perfectly, and instead of reiterating it, I ll just link it here Find Me On Instagra It pains me to say this, and never in a million years did I think I d rate a KB Ritchie book anything lower than 5 stars, but I just didn t LOVE this one I will absolutely read every book to come, and I m looking forward to the next installment But this one didn t have the unique sparkle all the other KB books have had I read a review that described most of my thoughts perfectly, and instead of reiterating it, I ll just link it here Find Me On Instagram FB Page FB Blog Blog Twitter flag 68 likesLike see review View all 9 comments TheCrazyWorldOfABookLover Hollis wrote aw, sorry for the slight bummer here, darling thanks dear still looking forward to the other books though Jan 29, 2019 07 15AM bahar Sooo true Feb 01, 2019 03 30AM Jan 18, 2019 Hulya Kara Yuksel rated it it was amazing Of course I loved it Btw I can t wait to read about Thatcher Jane in the next book and I really hope we won t wait too long or I ll lose my mind flag 67 likesLike see review View all 8 comments Jan 17, 2019 Wendy rated it it was amazing Shelves romance mf, alpha man, badass hero, bookboyfriend, can t wait hurry up, dirty talk, emotional, drama llama, family kids, famous These authors have once again proven to me that it doesn t matter what they write, be it MF romance, MM Romance, YA, or even fantasy.Whenever their pen touches paper could be they just type though p something magical happens Let me start by saying that this is NOT a stand alone story This series should be read in order, which means starting with the first book Damaged like Us You will get terribly confused if you don t To really enjoy this series to the fullest, I would even These authors have once again proven to me that it doesn t matter what they write, be it MF romance, MM Romance, YA, or even fantasy.Whenever their pen touches paper could be they just type though p something magical happens Let me start by saying that this is NOT a stand alone story This series should be read in order, which means starting with the first book Damaged like Us You will get terribly confused if you don t To really enjoy this series to the fullest, I would even go so far, as to say you should start with reading The Addicted and Calloway Sisters series That s were everything really starts, with the awesome moms and dads

although i will say it was pretty well done but everything from the banter to the sex was pretty excellent here, and it s what i ve come to expect that being said the book wasn t entirely without flawswhile the last book for me was a 5 star read, the first book in maximoff farrow s love story for me was just a 3 star read and i m starting to see a pattern develop the ritchie sisters do not know how to draw out tension the first book in their couples stories tend to be low tension and have instant gratification which is cool i think i d be upset if they didn t bang in the first book.but the feelings are usually not believable to me so you banged for 2 months you didn t date we got little interaction outside of sex from the two of you and for me, that sort of brings down the overall believability of any sort of long term relationship developingankfully, throughout the course of the 3 books for moffy farrow we got interaction and less sex i believed in their love and i think that will happen here too but for now, i m going to have to give this one a 3 star.but i am looking forward to the next book with bated breath 3 flag 41 likesLike see review View all 4 comments Jan 31, Rose and Connor s.Now, let s get to Jane and Thatcher. They have a sweet romance, great sex, a deeply and emotionally relationship that feels satisfying but still left me a little hanging at the end, because their story is clearly not finished It helps to know that their story will continue in book five, but I would have loved to read on Because Jane deserves all the happiness she can find, and I m glad that Thatcher is the one to protect her and to give her anything she desires They are a sweet couple, and I greatly enjoyed their story. One of my favorites things was having the entire crew together But I feel like the two townhouses are getting a little too crowded They should have already bought a third neighboring house by now, because the number of occupants has gone through the roof It s a little insane if I m honest 900 sq ft is all I m saying.I m still a HUGE Cobalt fan and the Cobalts are still my favorite family And I m slightly in love with their family dinners one word EPIC By now, Charlie and Beckett are some of my favorite characters I have questions about them then any others And I really hope they ll get their stories too Also I can t wait to read Akara and Sully s story we all know Akara is massively in denial, so this will be an interesting journey for him The little glimpse into Luna and Donnelly was very INTERESTING I m not sure where it s all going, but it eldest daughter of Connor and Rose and her stern and serious bodyguard, Thatcher Morreti, this romance has been hinted at in previous books of the series and it gave me everything I was hoping for Let me just say that this book is NOT a standalone You need to have read the previous three books in the Like Us series and ideally, the Addicted series as well This is Jane s first book, but it is a continuation of the story that runs through the whole series, so make sure you re all caught up before diving in We ve seen 23 year old Jane through the eyes of her best friend cousin other half, Maximoff Hale, getting glimpses of her quirky individuality, and I just loved getting inside of her head As the eldest of all of the Addicted offspring she, along with Moffy, feel a proud sense of responsibility over her younger siblings and cousins and there is nothing she wouldn t do for her family She is loving, kind and incredibly intelligent, but she also has her vulnerabilities She s not sure what she wants to do or where she fits in the world, and she has her insecurities like any person does, but she owns it, and the complexity of her character mixed with her confidence is beautiful to see My mom started her fashion company when she was only fifteen Ladies and gentlemen, let all of that sink in.Fifteen .I m twenty three and I can hardly decide which brand of toothpaste to use It s becoming shamefully easier to say, I am not worthy to be a Cobalt Confidence should be engrained in my DNA, but to reach into the well, I have to constantly remind myself that I am good enough.I won t devalue her achievements just to find value in myself. My mom is brilliant and beautiful. And so I am Just in my own way. Thatcher Morreti is Jane s assigned bodyguard He and his twin brother have been working with the famous families for years and they have a great respect and dedication to their jobs Thatcher, in particular, has been attached to Jane for a while, but has only been working one on one with her for a year, and though they ve had hurdles to overcome, it s a good match and there isn t anything that he wouldn t do for his client He s safety, the forceful gravity that grounds me, that helps stop me from ratting sideways inside a world that tries and tries to shake me. I always fall for a wonderful romantic hero, and Thatcher is just that He s very different from the other guys in this series, but even in all of his serious stoicism, he s absolutely perfect Dedicated, loyal, and beautifully protective, he cares a lot about his job and the ones he protects But there is another side to him that I loved getting to explore his raging, completely inappropriate attraction to his client Holy damn We knew there was something between them, but finally getting Thatcher s perspective shows us that he s a devastatingly sexual alpha, catapulting this book straight into a steamy pile of lust, and I was giddy with excitement There is only one of Jane, no other person can be all of what she is, and anyone who harasses this girl might as well be tearing the wings off an angel.I m honoured that I get to be the one to keep her safe. She s my duty .I also shouldn t want to fuck an angel. Jane s attraction is just as evident probably even so and every moment between them is dripping in anticipation They want each other badly, every look, every touch, every word had so much meaning, and I loved seeing them together In another life, I d wrap myself up in the powerful heavenliness of Thatcher Moretti, like he s my warrior archangel prepared to blanket me with his twelve foot wingspan All before he hoists me around Thatcher turns slightly And he catches my ogling gaze.Flush reaches my cheeks Merde Thatcher I ve greeted him five times today already. He crosses his arms Jane His deep tone is never scolding towards me. I could feel the chemistry between them that builds and builds, bringing fantastic intensity and a massive case of blue lady balls because they know they can t be together Maximoff and Farrow have done the client bodyguard thing, and the security force as a whole won t stand for another relationship like it Thatcher and Jane both know this, so instead we get an incredibly intense situation that sizzles the pages She stares at me, entranced Like my silent authority is a slow burning fuck.My blood heats, muscles on fucking fire. But when a devastating betrayal throws Jane into a very unwelcome spotlight, making her a target of men all over the country pursuing her, it is suggested that she enter into a fake relationship to show her unavailability And who better to be her fake boyfriend than the man who is constantly by her side and who she trusts than anyone Thatcher. It s an irresistible setup, and it one that had me squeeing with delight as Jane and Thatcher finally get the opportunity to be together in a way that they have wanted for so long even if it is all supposed to be fake I clasp her face, my large hand enveloping her flushed cheek You re meant to be in my arms, Jane It s beautiful, it s emotional, and holy hell, it s hot, and with all of the feels between them it takes no time at all for their passion for each other to finally unleash, and everything is about to change We re kerosene together And we ve finally lit the match. In my head, there s no going back. I loved it I love how they throw themselves into it and don t hold back, I love how honest they are with each other about it, I love how the secretive nature of it all adds extra excitement, and the sexy time is off the freaking charts It s smoking hot, but so much than that, there is an intensity about the two of them together that is almost palpable They clearly feel something for each other before they even go there, and I could feel their incredible connection in the way that they are together, and holy hot damn, those scenes are almost breathtaking But being with Jane even in pretend has consequences for Thatcher, with him becoming a reluctant celebrity in his own right, forcing the reveal of secrets that he has tried to keep hidden And with their relationship on a short timeline, and Thatcher s career and the reputation of the security force on the line, they are in an impossible situation What will happen if the truth comes out What will they be willing to risk to be together And just what kind of future could they possibly have It seems we are dreadfully tangled, you and I It s a wildly intense ride that kept me captivated and made me fall in mad love with these two both individually and as a couple They have a lot to figure out and I felt like I was a part of the journey with them, and loved watching them navigate the ups and downs and the emotional turmoil of it all The rest of the family are a big part of the story Maximoff and Farrow feature a lot, of course, as well as Sulli, Luna, and Jane s siblings And the security boys are a constant presence especially Thatcher s brother, Banks I loved getting to see them all The dynamics are fantastic as always, and there are hints at future setups that I can t wait to see unfold The story ends in a good place There isn t really a cliffhanger, but you know there is to come, and I can t wait to see what is in store for these two next.5 I Cobaretti stars flag 22 likesLike see review Jan 30, 2018 Simii Khanom reason really makes me feel like it s closer to a 5 star despite the little things that made me feel up until then that it wasn t To be honest, I wouldn t be surprise if my rating continues to change as the day goes by and I keep changing it on between 4 and 5 stars I enjoyed this book and getting to know Jane and Thatcher and see them fall into their romance I loved getting to know Banks, getting to know the Moretti brother s family, seeing of the Cobalts though I really feel like we didn t get nearly as much of the siblings as I thought we would considering this was Jane s book , and again, I loved Jane and Thatcher together I do feel like this book kinda threw us into the middle of their romance and I felt myself often feeling in the beginning that I was being told about these feelings they had for each other in particular, Thatcher when in the previous books I never saw any sort of indication of it Sure we all hoped and speculated but I thought this book would really show us the slow burn of them realizing their attraction and feelings for each other I thought there d be angst, especially from Thatcher but that didn t really happen I think I needed from the beginning I get that this is a continual series but there really wasn t enough of Jane and Thatcher in the first three books to set up in my opinion the way they set it up in TLU I needed for it to be shown versus being told about how they re so attracted to each other, how Thatcher likes her, etc But that s not to say that I didn t love them, because I did And their chemistry Holy hell they have it in SPADES I loved how Thatcher opened up and tried so hard to give her every part of him, even though he knew that she wouldn t want to be with him past their arrangement He wanted to give her every part of him and he d take any part of her he could get And I loved how Jane felt safe with him and comfortable with him in a way she d never felt before And the she learned about him, the they shared different parts of each other between them, the I felt myself getting so soft for them I feel like the book ends in a way that s hopeful while also leaving readers wondering what sort of drama will be in store for Jane, Thatcher and the other secondary characters and it s definitely got my interest piqued Below are some spoiler thoughts that honestly are just ramblings that make zero sense and are mostly me talking in circles as I try to understand my thoughts about certain scenes or things that happened in the book In all honestly, these thoughts and feelings will probably change with time and a reread but they re how I feel right now, immediately after finishing the book and I wanted to write that down Enter at your own risk view spoiler I liked I like how by the end Thatcher tells Jane he s in love with her and instead of telling him that she loves him back which imo I don t think she s ready to say yet and would ve really annoyed me because I didn t really think they were at that stage in the relationship to begin with she tells him she s falling in love with him When you think about Thatcher s actions, how he s been not only attracted to her for almost a year but he s liked her too something that Banks knew from day one but Thatcher wouldn t admit to himself , and that like only kept growing as he stayed on her security detail longer, it felt right to say that he was in love with her He wouldn t have hooked up with her to begin with if it was just about sex for him because he d already been celibate for 10 months and had no problem continuing so But he cared about her, he wanted to be with her yes sexually but also, I feel, he just wanted her in every way But Jane, while I do think she cares for him, I didn t feel right away that I could believe she s in love with him like that I do think she s getting there but she s someone who hasn t been opened to love and didn t even let herself entertain the thought passed sex I hope that with book two we see couple moments that exceed passed the bedroom and hopefully Jane saying those three words I liked the progression of Sulli and Akara s sub plot I like that she s trying to date and I liked the little hints on how Akara is handling that It s still so damn vague that again, I think they need to set it up with a bit than vague hints if they want to jump into the i have feelings category right away in their book, whenever that may be that Akara s reaction could really be read two different ways his version of being concerned that this Will guy just wants to fuck her and he knows she wants a relationship, or that Akara s jealous and doesn t know how to handle that Thatcher and Banks mom is married to another woman, hell yes I loved that and I just loved his family in general That scene where she meets his family was probably one of my favorite scenes and I loved how important family is to Thatcher just like it is to Jane Cobalt family dinner I m sad there was only one scene and it s really the only scene we see most of her siblings but it was such a beautiful scene and it made me so damn sappy seeing them band together I like the progression of Thatcher and Farrow s relationship I like how things were explained and we see them slowly start to be ok with each other I can see them going on double dates with their SO when in the past I couldn t possibly see that happening and that s progress I ll gladly take LOLI didn t like I m not a fan of the progression of Luna and Donnelly s relationship I ve always been down for their relationship but for some reason when Jane walked in on them and it was Donnelly going down on her I just felt dread and disappointment I could be jumping to conclusions but this feels like another we re going to be hiding our relationship from SFO plot And there s something about Donnelly s go with the flow attitude in that scene that rubbed me the wrong way and I hate that because I LOVE Donnelly I m not saying I wanted it to be glaringly obvious he has feelings but it felt like such a hookup and I don t knowI just wanted than that for Luna It feels like they ll be doing the casual hookup thing and I don t really see where or how their relationship could go to because Donnelly honestly appears like he isn t capable of being serious about a girl at all Does he even care about Luna or is it just about being so go with the flow that when she asks him to go down on her he legit just shrugs and like yeah, sure It feels like he s like this with all girls too, he ll hook up with any girl if she s willing to hook up with him I guess I just wanted something different but who knows, things could change in the next book Maybe I m overthinking the whole thing I love Marrow but this book honestly felt like it had SO MUCH of them in it, much than there was of Jane s actual family And listen, I get that Moffy is her best friend Their friendship scenes were honestly so freaking beautiful and I loved them so much and I loved seeing Farrow and Moffy being all couple and cute and their usual banter But about half way through the book I realized holy shit I m seeing so much of them in this book than I ever saw of Jane in the first three books and I m certainly seeing of them than I m seeing of anyone else Not even Banks gets much screen time and he s Thatcher s best friend and brother It s not that I didn t enjoy the scenes because I did but it also bothered me because one of my biggest concerns about TLU was that I didn t want this to feel like it was centered around Marrow when it was supposed to be about Jane and Thatcher and while it didn t feel like it was centered around them per se, it did feel like they were still a central part of the book Was Jane not a central part of Moffy s three books even though she was his best friend because she didn t have a relationship Will that change now that she s in a relationship, meaning in the wedding book she ll be in just as many scenes and be such a central part of the story like he was in hers I don t know, but I m curious I guess my concern is that it felt like this is series is centered around Moffy, as if he s the main character in the series and while I love him with all my heart, I was under the impression that this series was supposed to be centered around the three families Hale s, Cobalt s and Meadows I worry that when Sullivan s book comes, will Moffy still be a central part of the story for no other reason than because he was the first books I really do love him and I m conflicted over these feelings because I would ve also been upset if he wasn t in it at all because he s Jane s best friend and her other half and I m grateful for the scenes between them I guess only time will tell how this series will play out and how screen time will be split in future books Tony can choke Can t stand him for so many reasons but I especially can t stand him for not stopping the fight between Xander and that idiot at the party I really hope he gets fired by the next book Where the fuck was Maria Stokes I saw like 2 or 3 points in which she could ve easily have been introduced or made a cameo of some kind, even if it was just a phone call To be honest, this has zero affect on my rating as I knew going in that she wouldn t make an appearance but I m still disappointed considering she really could ve and should ve WHERE WERE THE COBALT SIBLINGS I don t feel like I really saw many interactions between Jane and her siblings I know no about their sibling dynamic than I did in Moffy s POV and I really thought we d be getting so many little moments with Jane and her siblings but most of the interactions were little scenes Jane explains afterwards, summarized I know these books are romance first, and for that I m grateful and I agree but still, I expected at least a few scenes of her actually interacting with her siblings and not just thinking about them hide spoiler flag 9 likesLike see review View all 8 comments Jan 18, sad little cub about to be eaten I m a motherfucking lion.Their relationship in this book was LITERAL PERFECTION First of all, who doesn t love a fake relationship that will guaranteed turn into a real one I honestly thought it was hilarious how fast they both said, screw the rules Especially Thatcher UGH Seriously They were so hot together I can barely stand it Also, I was slightly worried that at some point one of them would try to hide feelings or that there would be some kind of miscommunication because nine times out of ten there ALWAYS is one Nope, not here These two were straightforward with each other right out of the gate There were no hidden feelings, no beating around the bush I fucking loved every second of it Also I want to be best friends with Jane so badly The girl sweats as much as I do, lol, and is the sweetest person ever I love how comfortable she is with her body too girl power These Ritchie girls have time and time again written my favorite relationships EVER family, romantic, AND friend oriented I need Jane and Thatcher s second book so badly it hurts I want to know all about you, but I can t ask fast enough and when I think about you, I wonder what your hands have held What your eyes have seen My pulse has skyrocketed, but I keep speaking What your ears have heard and where your feet have landed There were just two.ybe three small things that I noticed while reading this that gave me pause One, I realized how frustrating Moffy and Farrow s back and forth it so me Love them together, don t love their particular brand of banter Oh well Two, in the very back of my mind I kept thinking about how I couldn t comprehend how these families are STILL dealing with this batshit crazy level of stalker hater fans and paparazzi Nuts, but what do I know about famous people Not much Third and this one actually just gave me a good laugh how freaking hilarious is it going to be when two body guards get paired off with two of the famous ones bhahahaha I want to know how much Price is going to flip his lid and what the parents will think bhahaha These things are all VERY minor though and I am ride or die for these characters Super nervous about Tony and I m sure he ll be a threat of some kind in their next book but I trust Thatcher to take him out if need be, lol BTW IF YOU COULDN T TELL I LOVE THATCHER MORETTI He may have pushed his way into top three guys from their books Connor and Ryke are my one and two obviously I approach my grandma at the table Short gray hair, petite, wrinkles and age spots blemishing her frail skin her eyes already fill with tears seeing that I m about to go I take a knee in front of her chair and kiss her cheek Whispering, I wish we could stay longer with you My grandma places a loving hand against my jaw, cradling my face You put too much on yourself, you hear There s only one thing you need to remember Just one She brings my face closer to hers Be happy Ummmm not going to lie that quote made me cry because I ll bet they added it for their grandma that just recently passed away and I lost my grandma really the only grandparent living while I was growing up over eight people from the fandom Tangled Like Us is so much better I literally couldn t put the book down, and I ate up the words so quickly and found myself smiling in so many of the scenes between Jane and Thatcher Obviously for me, scenes with Sulli and Akara took the front seat, and I like seeing their build up slowly happen even if ALU would ve been the perfect start to their story The Cobalt family moments were adorable, and seeing things from Thatcher s point of view and his relationship with his twin brother was really intriguing and refreshing I loved how Jane s body image issues were tackled, and I really found their dynamic to be soft and adorable. Now, what I didn t like I love the characters from this series a lot, and when Krista and Becca announced that fake dating would be one of the tropes involved for Cobaretti, I was interested in seeing how things would take place, BUT I found the whole reason behind it so stupid and easily resolvable, and just funny It was just so weird and out of place and kind of unrealistic that it didn t register in my mind for a solid ten minutes that that was the reason they were fake dating in the first place It s been years and I can t believe Samantha Calloway is still alive and causing trouble How hard would it be for anyone to tell her to leave Another one was how in your face Maximoff and Farrow s relationship was, and while I know that Jane and Moffy are best friends, so many of their scenes were unnecessary, and he got so much scenes than all her seven siblings combined During the first three books, we didn t see as much of Jane as we did this time of Moffy and Farrow It also seemed so unrealistic of Thatcher to think of Farrow as the best bodyguard in SFO when he constantly ignores comms and breaks rules while someone like Akara who s literally the lead is right there I felt like it was the your fav character likes this guy and therefore you should like him too kind of thing AND then the ending Why do the Alpha and Beta leads hold so much power over Thatcher and Jane when she could easily ask them on her behalf Or ask her parents to fight for her Her family is the one in power they literally can change the security teams because they re paying for their services like they have the full capacity to dictate if a kid wants a particular bodyguard However, all in all, I did love this book a lot The romance was well done, and I am still finding myself rereading the scenes that I highlighted and loved I still don t understand why Jack and Oscar are getting a book before Akara and Sulli are, but I create such a beautiful dynamic relationship between Jane and Thatcher that was built first and foremost on respect, mutual understanding and support It is rare and also refreshing to see an alpha male like Thatcher being so soft, attentive and not go all caveman in situations where nasty men are involved He never once silenced her or made her feel small, he stood bye her and let her say her piece I saw them as equals There were a lot of favourite scenes, but one in particular hit close to home and I am glad they included something like that because it made me feel even closer to Jane I sure Jane felt comfortable, safe and respected and i truly adored some scenes where they were discussing topics like jane s weight or their past, or thatcher s dead brother It was a carousel of emotions Thatcher didn t fight Jane s battles, he let her deal with her grandmother He let her choose what she wanted and what she felt comfortable with and i appreciated that A LOT When Jane and Thatcher made that oath it reminded me so much of Rose and the oath she made with her sisters and Willow I had the biggest smile on my face. This book felt shorter than the others but maybe it just was me actually enjoying it and fly through it and i m super excited to see where their story goes next.Other characters and relationships we are starting to see Sulli going on dates and Akara is getting jealous and I M LOVING IT.I am sad Sulli, Jane and Luna didn t have a lot of scenes but maybe in the second book we ll have of their friendshipNA AND DONNELLY I knew their love story s trope was going to be friends with benefits but i didn t imagine they would ve started it so soon I LEGIT SCREAMED WHEN WE SAW HIM IN BED WITH LUNA HOLY CRAP GIVE ME THEIR BOOK NOWWWWWWWWI loved Akara, Banks and Thatcher s friendship and i hope we ll have it in book 2 as well.I kinda appreciated Farrow and Maximoff in this book proably because they weren t the main couple but i m glad they supported Jane and Thatcher s relationship and even if they don t like Thatcher and viceversa they only wanted Jane s happiness This is what i want to see I LOVED the scene between Rose, Lily, Daisy and Jane I love how supportive Rose is of Jane, how she wants her to find her passion and not follow her steps or her father s And i truly love that Rose and Connor let their children fight their own battles but will always be there for them if they need it THE COBALT SCENE HAD ME IN TEARS I love this family with all my heart Eliot is one of my favorite characters and the scene where they said he needed help MADE ME SO SCARED I am sure he s dealing with a lot mentally speaking and it s hitting close to homeCKETT LET DONNELLY GO I know it s for Donnelly s mental health but it made me so sad Oscar and Farrow truly love him and i am sure it was the best decision to tell Beckett about Donnelly s past but i just want those two to be buddy guards again DONNELLY S FATHER will probably be the antagonist in Lunnelly s book i m almost sure of it That call was so suspicious WHAT DO YOU WANT DICKHEAD STAY AWAY FROM MY CHILDREN.I m glad Jane knows about Beckett and they re all working together to help him Before we start, I have two disclaimers for anyone who may be reading First and foremost, this could get lengthy So if that s not your thing, here s your chance to jump ship There s also a strong possibility that as I go deeper into this review it may veer into spoiler territory So if you haven t read the book and want to maybe don t read this review just yet Now then, let s begin I ll start with the writing For the most part I thoroughly enjoy the writing of these authors I find myself completely enthralled in the stories they tell But like everything, it s not perfect My biggest complaint with this book is that a lot of the scenes felt as though they would have been better told from the other person s POV For example the bingo scene That scene would have meant a lot if we got to see Jane navigate through the conversation with Moffy and also got to see her decide not to allow herself to be curious about Sky until Thatcher brought it up himself It also felt as though some really important scenes were glossed over in favor of what felt like filler i.e Jane standing up to grandmother Calloway As a writer myself I ve never been too much of a stickler for the rules of writing However, I think there are a few rules that should always be followed, and this book broke some of the most important ones First, we have both of these character s ability to read minds That is to say Thatcher knows Jane s every thought, every emotion, and what every look means and vice versa To some degree it is believable that Thatcher would be able to infer these things seeing as he is her body guard But for the most part, having the characters flat out tell us what the other is thinking and feeling takes away from their interactions and feels lazy Like the authors couldn t bother to show us these special moments, we just had to be told Moving on, we have the repetitiveness Jane s breath is always shallow, Thatcher is always stoic and muscular even when describing himself , and Moffy is always Jane s best friend This is a minor offense, but it has an affect similar to listening to a metronome tick away for hours on end Fine at first, then painfully irritating Finally, we have the characters constant need to describe themselves with unnecessary adjectives My Brown eyes My deep voice My muscular chest It drives me crazy because it gives these characters this underlying sense of arrogance It s possible this is the case for all the previous books I ve read by these authors, but it was easy to overlook due to my love for the characters Which brings me to my next point. It truly breaks my heart to say this because Jane was my favorite character of the last three books, but I didn t enjoy these characters as much as I thought I would Albeit they managed to partially redeem themselves near the end of the book Overall, Jane felt very shallow and one dimensional The world hates her, sometimes it makes her feel bad but most times she shrugs it off, she loves her family, and she has no idea what her passion in life is That seems to be all there is to her I think it would have been interesting to watch her deal with the paradox of being jealous of while simultaneously rooting for the success of her family members EDIT after sitting on this for a while, I d also like to say that Jane felt like a token for us chubby girls than an actual character Her main allure is that she s thick and loves herself for it Having this be her main deal feels slightly gimmicky which could be excused if it were well done, but it s not We dont get to see her fall in love with herself We just get told that she does and then proceed to see the rest of the world shit on her for her looks Making her character revolve around her looks, weight, and a boy was a really big mistake That s just my two cents Then we have Thatcher who is Ryke if Ryke were a bodyguard with a level of horniness resembling a 17 year old boy I ll admit I wasn t expecting him to have so much depth as a character, I certainly was not expecting that depth to surpass Jane s but here we are Still, something about Thatcher rubs me the wrong way and I think it stems from a grudge I m holding all the way from chapter one Thatcher oversexualized everything about Jane right off the bat Every little thing she did sent blood rushing to his cock It was a little uncomfortable considering this was the very first time we are introduced to his POV He couldn t go than a couple lines without reminding us both that he wanted to fuck Jane, and that he couldn t It was annoying, but also really inappropriate for the situation at hand He was apologizing or as he would say trying to unfuck the situation he put himself in I get being physically attracted to her, and I m not attempting to shame that, but I found myself whispering Can you put your dick away for ten minutes and just apologize He also couldn t resist mentioning his nine inch cock in chapter one which made me laugh aloud As for their relationship, I felt like I was stepping into the middle of something which isn t inherently a bad thing, but that paired with the fact that most of their sentiments were told to us and not shown made it very hard to connect and fall in love with this couple the way I have with every other couple in the Addicted and Like us world. Now on to the plot This is the aspect of the book that I am the most disappointed in Heavy spoilers ahead This book had the most lackluster conflicts I ve ever read from these authors I think this is due in part to the fact that it seems every kid is romantically paired with their body guard After the first time around, the stakes feel low and the story feels predictable They get together, they get caught or come clean, face minor repercussions, and live happily every after I think this could have been at least partially remedied had Akara become suspicious at some point and sat down with Thatcher to reiterate that the relationship is fake, he s not Farrow, and that he wouldn t get away with taking advantage of the situation At least then there would have been that feeling of They re being watched They have to be careful, which is the major allure of the fake dating trope Instead I had 100% confidence that Thatcher and Jane were going to get away with every hookup, every touch, every glance Which made them boring At least as far as the trope goes The inciting incident was also incredibly unrealistic and underwhelming In my opinion this series and, to a lesser extent, the ones before it already require some suspension of belief with regards to exactly how famous these families are, but to have G ma Calloway make an ad for Jane sent me over the edge Especially considering she doesn t show up much after this and plays no major role in the story I d sooner believe that she rallied up a group of her friends grandsons than I would that she is willing to auction off her granddaughter to anyone on the street with a house and a car The drama just fell so far short from what I m used to seeing these authors write So that left me with a predicable and somewhat boring love story, and not much else honestly I d also like to complain a bit about how unrealistically mean everyone outside of family is to Jane I had to actually put down the book in frustration while reading the radio scene of chapter two I understand that even in real life people can be terrible, especially to celebrities, but this just felt like overkill They say that the first step to writing a good character is to have them save the cat no not literally, otherwise Jane would have had it covered Basically that means have them save someone or something big or small Have them commit some good deed to get them into good graces with your readers In this book, it felt like Jane WAS the cat, and she was stuck in a tree, and that tree was on fire, and people were throwing tomatoes at her from the ground The book tries to hard to make us pity her as opposed letting us fall in love with her This is of an opinion than an actual criticism so I saved it for the end The gang living in that townhouse and their insistence on staying makes absolutely no sense to me Moffy refusing to even entertain the idea of moving somewhere safer just felt really stubborn and immature because they ve never expressed any legitimate reason why they want to stay so badly and what makes it such a special place It also seemed a little out of character for him to be so adamant on his little sister and cousin staying in this place that is constantly being targeted The way I see it, they would only benefit from moving They could still find a small place though with all those heads under one roof I can t see why they d want to , they d get sleep without dipsticks literally shouting at them from the street which I m sure their neighbors would appreciate as well , not to mention it would be so much easier for them to get in and out It just seems so dumb to have them stay The only purpose it serves is adding a little bit of drama when thing start to get boring and in my opinion that s just lazy writing Because I d like to end this on a high note, I m going to tell you some of the things I really enjoyed about this book I absolutely adore the Cobalts, so all of Jane s interactions with her siblings and parents was very much appreciated These women have such a great talent for writing all different kinds of family dynamics The Wednesday Family Dinner scene was easily one of my favorite parts of the entire book alongside Thatcher s Sunday Night Dinner I also loved seeing all the Calloway sisters together again to help Jane prepare for the dinner And I actually really enjoyed getting to learn about Thatcher, especially his relationship with his brother I find myself curious about him still Getting to read Moffy Farrow banter is always a plus From what I ve read in the reviews, this may be an unpopular opinion but I love Farrow and Moffy and I will not apologize Finally, as with every book from these two, the sex was great.Overall, despite my grievances, this book wasn t terrible I don t regret reading it and it s highly probable that I will even read it again in preparation for book five when the time comes In the end, I respect it for what it is and what it did for me which was take me one step further into this series And I still have high hopes for book 5.Favorite line What happened last night deserves a morning One where she wakes up in my arms flag 7 likesLike see review View all 4 comments TheCrazyWorldOfABookLover totally Thatcher individually I actually love Jane s character but find Thatcher boring It could be that maybe he is not my type of character, I ve never been too big on the silent brooding types after all but hmm I ll say I did enjoy learning about the backstory on his now gone brother and his relationship with Banks Thane was a cute and sweet couple, very compatible but again I also found them a bit boring too Anyway you expressed some great points I was too lazy to express in my own review lol updated 22 hours, 25 min ago Jan 18, 2019 mahana rated it really liked it full review now on my blog I I ve read this year so I can actually remember everything that happened in it and why I liked hated it Tangled Like Us is a book I d usually just rate and leave alone because it s one of those novels where I don t have anything to say These authors have very questionable past actions, so I m a bit apprehensive to post about them on my blog, but I like their characters, not them.If you haven t heard of this series before, it starts with Addicted to You and this is a spin off with the main characters in that series children The first three books follow Maximoff and his bodyguard, Farrow and I believe there are two books about Thatcher and Jane I haven t actually finished the other books in this series because I found them unreadable and couldn t stand the main characters However, I do appreciate Jane s characterisation so I decided to actually pick this one up It s hard to do a synopsis for a book series that is so complicated in the first place, so I ll be vague.Despite relationships between bodyguards and clients being forbidden, Thatcher begins to develop feelings for Jane, the woman he s supposed to protect When Jane s grandmother posts an advertisement stating that she s eager to find a suitor in order to upstage Maximoff s engagement, attention and harassment falls onto her shoulders In order to combat the media frenzy and negative attention from men, the bodyguards decide Jane should pretend to date Thatcher, which complicates the growing desire between them.I won t go any further than that Everybody knows what happens when a book has a fake dating trope they end up falling for each other. As I said before, I wasn t a fan of the previous books because the complications and constant press seem a bit ridiculous to me This was no exception I don t think the advertisement would cause that many creeps to come out , and I find the constant talk of the paparazzi irritating to read about why have they the general public made her famous if they don t like her in the first place I do appreciate how they ve tried to make their characters diverse emphasis on the tried since the first few books feature an m m relationship, but I personally wasn t a fan of the way those characters interact with each other In Tangled Like Us, I actually loved the relationship that developed between Jane and Thatcher It s a complicated one her being his client and the thought of developing anything being forbidden but I liked it.The thing is, this series couldn t exist if the main characters weren t famous a.k.a the reason they need bodyguards in the first place Which is unfortunate for those who don t like the whole media plot involved in these books Every time they mentioned the paparazzi, compared themselves to actual celebrities, or had a run in with the press, I internally cringed and skimmed through it The things you do to read books featuring characters you appreciate However, I ll admit it was interesting to hear the ropes of bodyguarding whether they were accurate or not.It was nice to see development from Thatcher s character since he s been a stoic, unemotional figure from the perspective of the others in these books My favourite thing is seeing such a hard individual like him softening up for the person they love I love Jane s character and how different she is from the typical women we see in romance books these days She s an imperfect character The world has expectations for her as she follows the example of her parents, but she hasn t found a career that clicks with her yet It s so realistic to the current climate of people in their 20s and I truly hope she finds something she loves in the future Additionally, I loved how real it was when she spoke about her stretch marks and revealing them in front of Thatcher It may seem like I complain about everything else in this book, but I can t say anything negative about that I also appreciated how attentive and soft Thatcher seemed to be around Jane He always put her best interest ahead of his regardless of if he was on duty or not and always made sure she was comfortable and loved in his presence I adored how she would always defend him against Tony or the paparazzi and he would treat her as an equal.I liked the appearances from the side characters, even if the glimpses into Maximoff and Farrow s relationship tried to overshadow most of the scenes I found it slightly annoying that the authors had another self insert through Thatcher and Banks being twins, with many, many long passages dedicated to discussing their woes and troubles If there s one thing I can say with full honesty, the only thing I miss about Moffy s perspective was getting to see of the Hales They were my favourite characters in the original series, but most of them were lacklustre in this novel though, I did appreciate the appearances from Luna.It s difficult for me to explain why I rate certain books the way I do Trust me, people have complained that I rate things high then only write negative things It s easier to write about the things you don t like than explaining what you do like This book, in that instance, was just fun to read and I loved the development of the relationship It s that simple Though the authors try to make it serious most of the time, I think it s fun to follow these characters specifically Jane and watch their difficult connection unfold.I wasn t a fan of the last few chapters To me, it felt like they d gotten to a certain point and needed to rush in order to finish the book without including the same development and precise editing as the other chapters I would ve preferred if we had a chapter from the perspective of Thatcher where we have his big realisation before the scene with the other bodyguards, or even him confessing to his brother, Banks Instead, the climactic scene appeared to come from nowhere with little set up for the next book In my opinion, if many people weren t a fan of the couple, there would be minimal anticipation for the sequel because the ending feels wrapped up Apart from the mention of a potential threat to Thatcher and Jane s relationship, but let s be real he s going to do nothing to deter Jane from Thatcher.Hopefully, this series continues down this path of improvement because it d be nice to not hate read anything by them again I m excited to read the next book, but I m apprehensive for Jane to experience any other tragedies in her life.Overall, I d definitely recommend this to those who are fans of the first series, even if it might be difficult to read the first three If you ve never heard of the Addicted series, then I probably wouldn t recommend it to you, just because it s so long and complicated that it s difficult to keep up Not to mention, the author s have a Patreon where you have to pledge than 5 a month just to get bonus scenes from them and there are fan pages for each and every character It s a difficult timeline to follow, so unless you re dedicated to finding it all out, I d stay away flag 7 likesLike see review Jan 16, 2019 julia rated it it was amazing Shelves fave ships, fave books full review on my blog here And while I m in his keep speaking What your ears have heard and where your feet have landed Hello guys, back with another review This time it s a book I ve been anticipating for over 2 years, ever since the first book in this series came out This is my second most anticipated romance of the series, so I can t wait to dig into this review What is this book about Tangled Like Us is set in the Addicted universe, which has been going for a long time The series previously titled Billionaires and Bodyguards is a spinoff of the original core six characters and settle around their children and families Whereas the first three books were Maximoff s Lily and Lo s son romance with his bodyguard Farrow, this one centers around Jane Cobalt Connor and Rose s daughter When an ad appears in the newspaper that Jane Cobalt is looking for her Prince Charming, she is stalked by numerous suitors who want nothing than to take her on a date Her bodyguard, the stoic and protective Thatcher Moretti, needs to device a plan to keep her safe from the public madness The two start a fake relationship to get the media and her stalkers off their backs, but what they don t anticipate is the attraction they both have for each other What did I think about Tangled Like us While I thought the first three books were kind of disappointing, it s no secret, you all know I thought this one was VASTLY different from the earlier intalments in the series Moffy and Farrow s relationship did not work for me I thought their banter was annoying and they had no build up They felt kind of forced and made me roll my eyes numerous times The authors also had trouble reconciling the characters sex life with their character development because the latter wasn t positive That being said, Tangled Like us might be my new favorite KBR book I genuinely think the problem is their inability to write healthy and non sexualised M M relationships, because this book had none of the issues that previously bothered me Jane and Thatcher s relationship was to die for The promo for this book made me apprehensive that this story would verge on erotica, and it did contain numerous sex scenes, but none of those were cringe y or insanely sexualised They were actually really soft This book reminded me of why I fell in love with this universe in the first place Her ability to be comfortable in her own skin, it s gorgeous Flat out, and for once, I allow myself to think it without reprimand Thatcher and Jane have a very healthy relationship together Their love is supportive, healing, and sweet I especially liked that Thatcher wasn t in any way afraid to let Jane take the lead in their relationship At one point, he makes a comment that both of them are alpha males, which actually made me laugh because Jane soooo has him wrapped around her finger Like I said, I was afraid they d paint Thatcher as the stereotypical alpha male who thinks with his genitals and turns into a possessive asshole 80% of the time, but this wasn t the case AT ALL Instead of making him into some alpha male archetype, KBR wrote him a lot nuanced I would even venture out and say he s the perfect romantic lead for me His respect and carefulness when it came to Jane was to die for He was SO attentive it wasn t even funny any As if my standards for men weren t high enough Their dynamic is one I really like and tend to go for when it comes to New Adult I like it when characters contrast and compliment each other Thatcher s stoic nature went really well with Jane s bubbly and soft personality, and made it easier for each of them to open up Anyway, I love Thatcher Moretti and he s successfully managed to snag the spot of my favorite KBR love interest up until now Speaking of Jane, let s talk about her, shall we I AM HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WITH THIS GIRL Jane Cobalt is one of the best protagonists the authors have ever written She made me so happy as a reader Jane is the only Cobalt who hasn t found her passion in life, which, at 23, isn t a weird thing to experience Her situation was so relatable to the point I nearly cried She also doesn t conform to the stereotypical standard of feminine beauty and speaks very openly about this There is a bathroom scene where, even though she genuinely loves her body and her shape, she sometimes has insecurities about her stretch marks She addresses how those don t fit within the perfect picture and still sometimes manage to make her feel uncomfortable I thought this was so human, I nearly teared up I just really really like her and it reminded me how KBR s strength mostly lies within their characters I just see all the side of Jane Cobalt.Bold and soft Outlandish and unabashed.Feminine and eager.Beautiful That being said, I do think these books still don t carry a lot of plot, so if you re looking for a plot heavy book, you might want to skip this series all together However, if, like me, you like character driven books and romantic storylines, this is the perfect book for you It s on my list of favorite NA romances, ever Lastly, I just want to mention my loves, Sulli and Akara, who are hopefully getting their own love story written out next year Yes Please Whereas previous books I used to read merely for their tiny scenes, I found that wasn t necessary with this one because I loved the main couple so much, HOWEVER, that doesn t mean that I didn t love them any less Their story is finally taking shape, and they re setting up their story very nicely for future books Also, while we re on the topic of future books, the one relationship I m not fully on board with and probably never will be is Luna and Donnelly I can see where their story is going, I do, but Donnelly s character is just badly written He has the personality of a fifteen year old boy who s dying to lose his virginity so acts like every woman in the world would want him, when in reality he s just not all that Also don t get me started on his derogatory comments and behavior no thanks The only Tangled Like Us moment I didn t like included him if you ve read the book, you probably know the one. However, to conclude, even Donnelly wasn t enough to not get me to give this book 5 stars This is everything I look for in a good soft romance, and reminded me why I fell in love with this universe and these characters in the first place I heard Sinful Like Us is supposed to come out in 2019 also, so I m looking forward to a cobaretti filled year Now let me reread this book again because, the sheer EXCELLENCE flag 7 likesLike see review Jan 26, 2019 Sharon rated it really liked it Shelves 4 is nice to see that Jane feels safe with Thatcher He is steadfast and reliable That girl goes through so much shit, and it is an interesting for Thatcher himself to notice the total unfairness that Jane as a female celebrity gets criticized and hated so much easily than the male celebrities in her family I gush at how much they appreciate each other for themselves and actually praise and remind adored the previous books in the series Farrow and Maximoff were fantastic together and I loved the whole wolrd the author had built around these families When I heard that the new book was going to be about Thatcher and Jane, I was torn into two directions One I loved Thatcher I loved his being so diligent to his duty, a block of marble, but also so caring and incredibly thoughful towaard his client You know he is the type YASSSSSSSSSSS I m so glad I loved this book First of all, I adored the previous books in the series Farrow and Maximoff were fantastic together and I loved the whole diligent to his duty, a block of marble, but also so caring and incredibly thoughful towaard his client You know he is the type of bodyguard that cares about his client Two I had been skeptical about liking Jane In hindsight, I kind of hate myself for not liking Jane that much in the first trilogy I really did not appreciate how indecisive she was with her life and thought her super close relationship with Moffy was at times taking away from his relationship with Farrow I know, in hindsight not many things make much sense. Now, after this very long intro, let s dive into the book by saying that I adored both characters equally in Tangled Like Us I adored their interactions and there wasn t a moment I didn t think they were meant to be, 100% Something that absolutely made the book for me was the incredible chemistry This book was oozing sexual tention and chemistry from the very beginning to the very end It was one smoldering ride I liked that the book started with both of them being already attracted to one other, thanks to what we had seen also in the previous books It made the arc of the story believable.I also liked the twists and turns of the story This whole series is a big giant draman of gossips, paparazzi and ruses And these two orchestrated the perfect scheme to be together while almost not breaking the rules set by their professional relationship almost.I absolutely adored to see the shift in their relationship and how they got closer and closer Also, this was a mainly happy book, without much angst Sure, there was a deadline on their relationship, but they were so clearly in love with each other that I was not even feeling anxious about it.As for the rest of the crew, we get to see plenty of the other characters, first and foremost Moffy and Farrow, but also a bit of Sulli, Luna, who now live with the whole crew in the townhouse, and of course the bodyguards.Something I always appreciated about these books is how the drama is not always centered about the main characters In fact, some of the twists and turns involved other members of the family, and made it less make believe and rather realistic Oh, one last thing I have to give props to the authors to also show us Banks and Thather s relationship, back story, and dynamics I feel like the focus is usually on one of the famous ones family, rather than the bodyguard, but it was great to see Thatcher so close to his twin, even to the expense of some sacrifices. In conclusion, this book was a beautiful love story, of which we ll read since the next book will also be about them, with scorching hot love scenes Thatcher Moretti is officiali a sex God , plenty of humor, emotions and adorable family drama At the end of the book I was completely satisfied and wanted to read and about this couple and their new not so new relationship Definitely, the new bodyguards assignments will be making the next installment interesting and I can t wait to see how everything will develop wasn t set that high When I say that, I truly mean it it s not just the best one by default, but for the first time, I genuinely enjoyed most of the book I fell in love with Jane I liked her before but this book sold me forever , and all her quirkiness and fun I was also pleasantly surprised at how much I fell in love with Cobaretti Jane Thatcher I was already beginning to with all the sneak peeks, but the whole book itself really sold the deal Basically, this book picks up two months after Greece, and it tackles the flaming sexual tension between Jane Cobalt, and her bodyguard, Thatcher Moretti Things heat up when, for security reasons, they have to fake a relationship for the public iiThere are many things that make this novel significantly better than the previous three, and actually enjoyable As I previously stated, Jane Cobalt was so fun to read, and not just because we were all fed up with Moffy and Farrow I really feel like she s so unique and different from the previous female protagonists in the Addicted Series, and the ones to come in Like Us I also surprisingly liked Thatcher too I really thought his character was bland as , until we actually read about him and his point of view He actually became layered which is a shock to me In this series Three dimensional characters What Anyway, I m going to list the things I liked about this book.1 Most obviously, the relationship between Jane and Thatcher I literally highlighted every single time their emotional connection was proven, because I couldn t believe it, not after three books of straight girls fetishizing gay sex And the progression of their relationship and intimacy was so beautiful topped with the fake dating trope, and the forbidden love trope, it really gave a nice spin I finally felt like I was reading an original KB romance again.2 That goes for their characters as well I loved Jane, and now love her than I ever thought I could.3 THE SLEEPOVER SCENE BETWEEN THE GIRLS I was so disappointed when that was all we got between Sulli, Jane, and Luna I m really hoping book 5 will remedy that Their scene was just so cute, it reminded me so much of Daisy, Rose, and Lily I also loved any scene with Sullivan and or Luna, automatically 4 THE COBALT EMPIRE COBALLOWAY CHARLIE AND BECKETT OH MY GOD I forgot how much I loved this family It s so weird for me Raisy is my favourite couple, but Rose is my favourite character, and Cobalts Meadows are tied for favourite family I was so scared by throwing Coballoway back into the mix again, their characters were screwed, but it was just like old times And that Wednesday night dinner at the end tears in my eyes Because of all the Cobalt related scenes, my love for all of them grew infinitely, especially for Charlie and Beckett WHERE ARE THEIR BOOKS I DEMAND THEM IT IS WHAT THEY DESERVE Especially since both their characters have so many layers HIDDEN LAYERS I m dying I want Cobalt Empire I NEED MORE COBALT EMPIRE ENSEMBLE TOGETHER LITERALLY ALWAYS I m going to go cry now.5 Obviously I hated Tony, but he really intrigues me as a villain At first I was so furious at his manipulation, but then I took a step back and realized that he has great potential to continue his villainous role into book 5, which makes the 5th book that much exciting 6 I m still in a frenzy after finishing the book, so if I can think of anything, I ll add it here iii Price says, Was it for the fame or the sex Neither, I say, not even hesitating It was just her It was always just her.I guess because I m still bitter about so many things regarding this series, there were still several things I really didn t like For the most part, I thought the book was great I was originally going to rate it 4 stars But then a few things happened that made me knock it down to 3 and even though it wasn t a lot, these things literally had me fuming enough to change my opinion in general So I m just going to list them because it appears I really can t review this series differently than I have in the past.1 LUNA AND DONNELLY Like I know they were confirmed, but Jesus Christ, it was so weird And it infuriated me that there s this pushback on Kitsulli, both in the book and by the authors, and this whole interaction made me feel like I wouldn t be surprised if Kitsulli got bumped to 9 instead And like this also frustrated me because it just seemed so obvious before this relationship was hinted, that Luna was coded as a lesbian And when they started interacting, I immediately thought of it as platonic best friend relationship And when they were confirmed predictable , I was disappointed, but figured since their book isn t even confirmed, their relationship would take time to play out This scene made it go from 0 to 100 so fast and to me it just felt so weird and so out of character Even given the circumstances For both Donnelly and Luna So this, along with my 2nd reason, are the two main things as to why I had to rate the book 3 stars instead of 4.2 I AM SO MAD AT THE PUSHBACK OF KITSULLI I m glad they recovered from their weird buddyguard pause but was also so here for the angst , but didn t Sullivan clearly have trust issues Wasn t she wary of beginning to date She didn t want to date unless she knew someone 100% and felt like she can trust them 100%, and that s not easy for her This whole Sullivan giggling and clearly wanting to date all of a sudden and has a crush on the Rochester dude literally seems so forced, as if to like, tell Kitsulli fans to sit down, as if to say, Sullivan is not interested right now Well Jan, of course she s not interested, SHE MADE IT CLEAR SHE S NOT TOO KEEN ON DATING Especially compared to Kitsulli s progression in ALU, this felt like a giant slap in the face The only good thing out of this subplot and by subplot I mean like 15 lines in the whole book is Akara s jealousy, which reminds me of Thatcher s jealousy, which to me means he knows he has feelings for her 3 Speaking of pushback, while it was such a relief to FINALLY read a POV that wasn t Maximoff s or Farrow s, there were points of the book where I questioned if this was even Jane s book, or Marrow s Seriously, they were in EVERY SECOND SCENE Which wouldn t bother me if Jane was in almost every scene with Marrow in their books, but she didn t appear nearly as much Like, we get it, you can t let go of this fictional couple you fetishized and based off of pure sex, but I still hated it And as a result, we didn t get to see the other characters as much, like Sullivan, or Luna, or Charlie, or Beckett Because secondary character screen time was given to Maximoff and Farrow Just let that sink in 4 This didn t bother me too much, but thought I d throw in that I felt the last couple of chapters were rushed and changed the pacing completely, but still had a good ending iv It s been clear to me that we re kerosene together And we ve finally lit the match.Overall, despite my complaints, I did enjoy the book Especially with the way it ended, I m actually excited for book 5, which is a first in the series I was wary about this one, because the previous three were just terrible, so I didn t get excited until the sneak peeks were beginning to be released I m guessing based on publication history of the series, it ll drop sometime in the spring, most likely in May The only thing I m not excited for is the fact that after Sinful Like Us, we re back to Marrow AGAIN And we re going to have to trek through it AGAIN for the ones we love And then there s Oscar Jack, I literally don t even know why they re getting a book They re side characters They re not even a part of the three families, WHICH IS WHAT THE STORY IS ABOUT It s like KB know most of us are only here still for Akara Sullivan, and we re hightailing it out of here after their book s fingers crossed for than one It s disappointing, because instead of having books about characters we care about personally, based on the Facebook Group and other various media sources, it seems that most fans just want Sullivan s book, and then books for Charlie and Beckett, Luna, and a few for Jane You know, THE INTERESTING CHARACTERS And oh god, I ve made myself hate this series again Time to go back to the real post Some Kind of Perfect future the one where Maximoff is a grown up version of himself from what we ve seen, the one where, if it s Moffy Farrow, they actually have an emotional connection, something beyond their sex life which is really all they have , and their relationship is actually healthy In this version, LUNA HALE IS A LESBIAN, because it was just so obvious to me that when paired with any man it s gross In this version, I d still prefer if Thatcher wasn t Jane s bodyguard specifically, but their story of fake dating onwards was great IN THIS VERSION THERE IS NO OSCAR AND JACK BOOK AND KITSULLI DON T HAVE TO WAIT THIRTY YEARS BEFORE REALIZING THEIR FEELINGS And tons stuff Anyway, still liked the book for the most part Despite my complaining Laugh out loud He may not be my bodyguard any, but he doesn t have to be for me to feel unequivocally safe in his arms. And
