    1. I think I found the right book for the right time period in my life I almost hate to rate a book prematurely before trying out the methods to see if they work, but I know a little bit about certain foods and preservatives which are triggers for me nitrates being a biggie , that The Migraine Miracle did prove to line up with some of what I d known before, making me think that I could benefit from putting some of the other practices mentioned.Being as I m of the type of person who wants the road [...]

    2. After reading this book, I was almost giddy with excitement, and felt like my eyes had been opened I ve battled migraines for years 5 to 10 every month , and much of what s in this book was never a part of what I d heard from the doctors treating me But I wanted to reserve full judgment until I d had the opportunity to put the recommendations into practice Well, it s been a month so far and I m astounded I know it s still early, but this is the best I ve felt in many, many years I ll be 50 next [...]

    3. In their attempts to cope with a painful condition, migraine sufferers have a huge incentive to strictly comply with their doctors best advice But in The Migraine Miracle, Dr Josh Turknett makes a provocative argument namely, that today s best advice on migraines is woefully incomplete. The Atlanta based neurologist has spent years treating migraine patients, but he happens to have firsthand experience with migraines as well Dr Turknett and many of his closest family members formerly suffered fro [...]

    4. Wow This book blew me away Being a migrainer for most of my life, I ve read many books on preventing and treating migraines so I didn t expect to see anything new in this one except maybe a tidbit here or there Instead, this book completely turned on its head how I look at migraine prevention The main idea has to do with balloons that either lift you closer to having a migraine, or move you farther away Genetics might move you closer, or the lack of sleep you had the night before, or the peppero [...]

    5. Years ago I went on a low carb diet, and I remember then noting that my migraines got better But I didn t stick with it very long Recently, a close friend recommended I read this, as she too has migraines and was getting amazing results eating the way Dr Turknett recommends So I read it, and first of all it s a great book Easy to read, yet I learned a ton And the difference it s made in my migraines has been tremendous Now I finally understand why my migraines went away all those years ago.And I [...]

    6. It was fate that this book found me I went to Barnes and Noble for a specific cookbook, which I couldn t find, and this book jumped out at me I have been a migraine sufferer since I was about four years old I can remember my mother trying to soothe my head with an ice cold washcloth and yucky grape flavored Tylenol grape flavored anything makes me nauseous to this day My doctors have always just wanted to throw medication at my pain, and since I hate taking pills, I jumped right in to reading th [...]

    7. I ve had migraines for eleven years, and have tried various medications, including botox injections The botox helps, but doesn t completely prevent the migraines I have a great neurologist, and a very sympathetic family, but I m tired of taking meds, and sick of feeling bad I read reviews of this book, and thought I d give it a try What the author says makes sense, and I began following the Migraine Miracle plan I don t think of it as a diet on January first I m on day seven, and so far, no migr [...]

    8. I was given this book by a family member who meant well, but it is not something I would recommend to anyone trying to find relief from their migraine disease The whole premise of the book is that the modern diet is somehow toxic and is causing people to have migraines He recommends going back to what he calls an ancestral diet or foods he asserts were not eaten by our ancestors The problem with this theory is that migraines have been written about since the ancient Egyptians, and Hippocrates wr [...]

    9. As a sufferer of migraines for the last 25 years, I have plenty of medicines helpful remedies to relieve the pain once it has started Dr Turknett s book provides me with preventative tools to reduce the incidences of migraines give me back countless hours I spend waiting for the pain to subside For all of those times I ve taken my self to bed, to lay on my heating pad in a dark room while I wait for my medicine to kick in I could have altogether prevented those headaches What a revelation I admi [...]

    10. A wealth of useful information from how to understand your headaches, to how to adjust your lifestyle and eating habits to avoid them As a migraine sufferer myself, I found the information valuable and enlightening Well worth the read even if you think you only get sinus headaches now and then A great addition to anyones collection.

    11. Book received from NetGalley for review. There seems to be a deluge of information and research which points to nutrition and lifestyle as the root of all illness Migraines prove to be no exception The book written by a neurologist who has personal experience with migraines and provides easy to under dietary changes that can have lasting effects This is for the serious migraine sufferer who is ready to take a holistic and dietary approach to ending their pain.

    12. First chapter has a reasonable summary of tips on what works and doesn t worth reading for that alone Most of the book is a description of a paleo diet, including recipes, and not really directly about the biology of headaches.

    13. The book provided some interesting insights into migraines and possible causes I found the first section very interesting The rest of the book and the diet information is the same information provided from other sources and promotes low carb and sugar, high protein, animal fat, etc diet.

    14. This is a great book for migraine sufferers It s not going to work for everyone, and it doesn t have all the answers, but it does give some great advice to help stop or reduce the occurrence.

    15. Excellent update on the cause, treatment, and prevention of migraines The recipes are OK but the book stands alone without them.

    16. Neurologist and author of Migraine Miracle, Josh Turknett, was once one of many people who suffer from migraines His mother, wife, and daughter also struggled with this health issue Determined to better understand the neurological system and to find the cure for migraines, he studied neurology and became a doctor Upon doing some random medical internet surfing one day, Turknett came across a neurologist who claimed that everything regarding the U.S s dietary principles were false Turknett admits [...]

    17. I got this book yesterday and finished it last night I m so very hopeful this book will cure my migraines I m a 17 year sufferer and am very familiar with much of what Dr Turknett discusses with regard to medication and triggers What is new to me, however, is his personal epiphany of the relation to the modern diet being a significant trigger I m off to the grocery store this morning to stock up on foods that do not contain sugar, gluten grains and omega 6 fatty acids which Dr Turknett associate [...]

    18. I won this from Giveaway Thank you to and the author.I got this book for my best friend and her husband who have had trouble with migraines I m hoping that they will write a review for this book themselves In the meantime, I figured I ll describe what I noticed from the book.Luckily, I do not get migraines like most people who buy this book, so I will not be trying the methods inside Instead, I plan on going through briefly what you ll find in the book. The book first talks about migraines what a [...]

    19. This book was very well written, and the only reason I wouldn t rate it higher is because I know of other scientific reports of the ancestral diet not being quite as good as this author claims, but he did a very good job with his research, and he has pages of references So, regardless of any content, this author is definitely well read The book has a whole chapter of recipes, and even if I m not quite convinced to switch to the diet, I will definitely take some of the those recipes to use Howeve [...]

    20. I was given a free ARC by Net Galley of The Migraine Miracle in exchange for an honest review A super fast read for me At first, I was not interested in this book because I thought it would be mostly diet based That was not entirely true Turknett gave a good overview of the symptoms and treatments if migraines before going into how diet can help This book also discusses individuals who suffer from autoimmune disorders as well as migraines Being diagnosed with Crohn s Disease at 16 this really ap [...]

    21. I found this book to not only be a great reference book regarding migraines, but an innovative approach to attacking the different triggers It is obviously well researched and is written in such a manner that I didn t feel talked down to or lectured It was like a migraine conversation, sometimes confirming what I know, sometimes suggesting a new theory, but always hopeful for my success The many ideas and solutions presented were logical and didn t seem unreasonable The book was evenly divided [...]

    22. This book was provided to me add part of the giveaway, first reads, in exchange for an honest review.Interesting read as a whole Many valid points, though some insights seem assumptive instead of fully vetted research Don t get me wrong, a lot of what is mentioned is very much based on largely known fact from years of research However, some of this book should be taken with a grain of salt Take what works for you out of what is suggested and leave the rest to the wayside I can t rate the diet pa [...]

    23. An excellent book This book offers a fresh new point of view on the topic of migraines It explains in depth everything you need to know about migraines and what you can do to help you beat them for good It is intelligently written in a way that anyone can follow and understand it Dr Turknett is a great writer, and, capable to capture the audience with all his knowledge as a neurologist, and, as a migraine patient himself Humor and compassion keeps the reader engaged The recipes come to provide a [...]

    24. I m happy a doctor is writing this book I ve looked at Paleo diets through the eyes of a migraineur, wondering if they might help me Here s a doctor making the case for a high fat, low carb diet to combat migraines And the case is compelling There s a list of references in the back I wish Dr Turknett would cite frequently from them so I can look into his science a bit Hence the four stars.Does the diet cure migraines I hate language like that even the books title is presumptuous That said, I m [...]

    25. Good read Some useful information The current medical theories on the mechanism of a migraine were very interesting Some information was presented as FACT when I suspect there is no verifiable scientific data Not sure if all the natural treatment options were scientifically proven I d like to read scientific proof of the advisability of the Paleo Diet for people with migraines I d also like to investigate the claims of the amino acid chains in coconut milk being superior nutritionally for all.

    26. This hopefully will be a life changing book for me I am a migraine sufferer and have them at least 10 times a month if not I have started incorporating some of the information I learned from this book and it has helped so far I have cut out wheat in my diet and my headaches have become less and when I do get one it is easier to get rid of it.Very excited about not having headaches so much It really alters you life.

    27. This book is a MUST read for anyone with headaches Whether the diet suggested actually works doesn t really matter Its the first book I ve read that has an author who has substantial research into the subject and provides solid information on what exactly is a migraine and what is happening in your body.

    28. Some really great ideas throughout this book It provided a very different way for me to look at my migraines. The recipes were very interesting but honestly far complicated than I can find time or energy to make.I was able to take some good ideas about bettering my diet and tracking my migraines.
