    1. This is the second book in a series about the Jordan family Jason Jordan was a minor character in book 1, Rocky Mountain Oasis, although this book can be read without having read the previous one In this story, Nicki Trent has to figure out a way to save her ranch after her husband was killed in a supposed accident She hires Jason as a ranch hand, just as suspicious events start occurring on her ranch When the bank calls in her loan, Nicki is about to give up but Jason is determined to save her [...]

    2. Enjoyable I really enjoyed reading this book It is the second book of the Shepherds Heart series Even though the story is predictable the characters still hold your interest The message of Christ is very definite throughout the book The main character have to rely on peace and strength from God One interesting concept I will take from this book is putting Jesus in the flesh and doing for others the way Jesus would want you too I am looking forward to reading the third book.

    3. Just as sweet as the first A wonderful western book that will make you sigh at the romance and gasp at the action The characters are so real you can nearly touch them which really comes in handy with Jason s kisses LOL The setting is incredibly lifelike and I am continually learning new things in the author s note at the end I adore the sweet romance and the heart pounding action The faith is wonderful as well, though I noticed it wasn t as strong as it was in the previous novel.I love how she p [...]

    4. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOKThis is my first book from this author and wow, I love it High Desert Haven takes readers back to the 1800 s Oregon Territory, a historical setting I love reading books about Imagine being bought by a strange man, and volunteering to go because you want your family to be debt free This is just what Nicki did, not knowing if she would ever see her precious parents and family again Life was not so bad, until her husband died from an accident and left her alone with someone [...]

    6. Nicki Trent is left alone with a toddler, a suffering ranch, and a mountain of debt after the suspicious death of her husband With nobody to turn to and the threats on those who work the ranch Nicki wonders if it would just be better to return to California and her childhood home but decides to hire on a new hand, Jason Jordan and try to make a go of it When the debt is called in and the death of a dear neighbor in what appears to be a case of arson coincides with Jason s arrival things begin to [...]

    7. For a well rounded Christian historical romance novel, High Desert Haven has it all a caring and cared for heroine, a charming and God fearing hero, great secondary characters, and a rather well paced plot The elements that really shine are those secondary characters and the plot riddled with tension and dilemmas.Nicki is a bit typical in her feisty damsel in distress role Jason helps her find the gumption to keep persevering through her ranch s endless problems, and ultimately she does an adequ [...]

    8. The first thing about this book that captivated me was the way the author made me feel immersed in the story I was there in the dusty California heat as Nicki made a choice about her future I saw the Oregon landscape as it stretched out before her and her new husband I felt her confusion as she struggled to choose a path for the future The writing excelled at drawing me into the story. With well developed characters and a faith that underscored the entire novel High Desert Haven kept me turning t [...]

    9. This is the second book in The Shepherd s Heart series and after reading it I want to read the first book and any that come after it High Desert Haven is an excellent book full of love, mystery, intrigue, death and happiness I will be adding High Desert Haven to my favorite books for 2012 and giving it a 5 star rating To me Nicki was a very unselfish, precious follower of Jesus in this fantastic book In every page from the first to the last Nicki puts her family, her husband, son and friends ahe [...]

    10. 11. Review on review R2A0EWZZReview to be posted on my blog 8 24 christianbookshelfreviewsWhen I started High Desert Haven I wasn t quite sure if I d like it there were some Spanish words and I was thinking that if there were going to be a lot of foreign words, without interpretation, it would be hard to follow the story Thankfully that wasn t the case While there were times in High Desert Haven that a word or phrase wasn t explain, for the most part they were Once I got a couple chapter into High [...]

    12. This series is getting better and better It s a balancing act for me when I read Christian romance I like the focus to be on romance and less on prayer and this author has the perfect mixture I don t like feeing like I m being preached to But I love the wholesome values and the old western times I will definitely be reading from this author ASAP And I LOVED that she tells the story from different perspectives even tho it s focused on our main chapters POV s She also gave us a good look at the [...]

    13. I have to start by saying that I m not much of a historian, but decided to give this book a try This book gets you from the prologue, you start wondering what s going to happen to Nicki, therefore you re not going to put it down This is a story of a woman who starts by being sold to a man for marriage and ends up teaching us the strength of faith throughout her life Through her story we confirmed that God will show up and show out on time in your direst moments This book not only talks about pro [...]

    14. Once I started reading this book, I couldn t put it down The story starts back in the 1880 s, when John Trent happens upon the Vasquez family in California He sees Dominique Nicki and decides he wants her for his wife, and pays for her in gold Her family is desperate and she goes with him willingly. When the story resumes Nicki is living on a ranch in Oregon Her husband has just died and she doesn t know what she is going to do She places an ad in the newspaper, and Jason Jordan feels that God ha [...]

    15. I really enjoyed High Desert Haven the book is action packed from beginning to end As soon as John Trent snatched poor Nicky away from her family I was hooked He takes her to his ranch, but then dies in suspicious circumstances, leaving Nicky to run the ranch and care for their baby son Nicky s natural instinct is to leave and return to her family, but she show true grit and decides to stay and run the ranch She has two ranch hands but it s a big place so she advertises for help, and along come [...]

    16. The high desert of Oregon was a rugged, desolate territory in 1887 It s not an easy place for Nicki Trent to find herself, widowed with a toddler and another baby on the way Not only was her husband killed in a mysterious accident, but the ranch he left her is rundown and barely hanging on financially Just when it seems things can t get any worse, the bank calls in a loan she didn t know she had Rather than give in to the questionable proposal of her neighbor William, she hires handsome Jason Jo [...]

    17. I love this author Ms Bonner s writing style has you breathing in the scents and seeing the scenery first hand First of all, Nicki Trent Who wouldn t like to have a name like that Which man can Nicki trust The one who has Mr Wonderful down pat Or the other guy Enjoy Lynnette Bonner s natural and riveting writing style Jason s turn around was a little far fetched at first, but had me convinced before the bullets started flying Nicki is a favorite character in the series I liked High Desert Haven [...]

    18. I liked this book a lot, however, it had the same problem as in Book 1 It moved much too slowly It took me several days to finish it and, at the most, it should have taken two I had difficulty remaining focused because there was filler that was just not essential to the story. The characters development was excellent and it was wonderful to see what the Lord had done in Jason s life.Nicki was a smart cookie but her continual belief in William, despite what others told her, went too far and made h [...]

    19. An amazing story So much tension and danger in this tale with people trying to run Nikki and others off their land, not caring who gets hurt in the process If I didn t have my heart in my mouth, then I was smiling at the sweet romance building between Nikki and Jason that was so exquisitely expressed But with Jason being set up for it to look like he was the one spreading death and strife around the neighbouring properties, will they find their way together And will they come out unscathed from [...]

    20. After recently re reading the first book in Bonner s The Shepherd s Heart series, I was eager to learn about what would happen with Jason Jordan s story in book 2 Bonner did not disappoint Tightly paced action, danger, faith, and delicious romance, all woven together in an intriguing narrative with realistic characters I adored Niki s determination and fire I enjoyed the way that fire only served to fuel Jason s charm all the .In short, did NOT want to put the book down once I started This is t [...]

    21. Loved ItI love the story of Nicki and Jason I met Jason in book 1 and was so happy to see what was going on with other characters from the first book In book 1 Jason was a alcoholic that had true his back on God Jason got rid of the alcohol and made his way back to God with the help of family and friends Nicki sacrificed herself for her family in all of that she trusted in God, when her husband died she trusted God would send her help and God did in the form of Jason This book has murder, kidnap [...]

    22. A good old fashioned western with a damsel in distress Nicki Trent s had a rough life and marries out of necessity When her husband dies leaving her responsible for a rundown ranch and a toddler she needs a man to help her pull off a miracle Jason Jordan s just the guy she needs He s good looking and an gentleman who knows ranching But the odds are stacked against them as the town villain seeks to get the ranch for his own through dastardly measures The plot takes me back to older westerns with [...]

    23. This was the second book in The Shepherd s Heart series Although this was a good book, I did not feel as connected to the main characters, Jason and Nicki, as I did to Sky and Brooke, in the first book I was also disappointed in the ending It was a happily ever after ending, but it seemed lacking somehow Maybe it was because there wasn t an epilogue All in all, it was a good book Moving on to book 3.

    24. I really enjoy reading this genre of fiction, where a lot of Scripture is tied in The scenarios of this book aren t necessarily realistic, but the application of Scripture in conjuncture with how I can apply it in my life was very real to me.At the end of the book, in the author s notes, she provided a reference to a book that is historically accurate, and I intend to read it It is called Thunder Over the Ochoco by Gale Ontko.

    25. Lynnette has done it again This was a fun story to read It had well thought out and likable characters The bad guys lived up to their expectations Little May made me laugh and cry The innocence of children is precious And I loved the character Janice She was good for a few chuckles It was fun to see characters from Rocky Mountain Oasis make an appearance and to see the changes that Jason made from RMO to this story were amazing.

    26. A wonderful bookWhat a great story I could not put it down I especially liked the foundation based on the truth of God s Word Shows me you don t have to have all the explicit sex scenes to have a good story, butt instead they ruin a good story I have read 1 and it was just as great Lynnette is quite the story teller Blessings

    27. When you love a book, it is easy to write a review It is much harder when you do not My first disappointment was the degree of Christianity in the story I have read Christian fictions, but this was too in my face I bought this after seeing a giveaway and did not see this aspect I liked the different storyline, originality, but did not end up enjoying the book.

    28. A widow is struggling to keep her ranch from failing and hires a new foreman to help her they soon uncover that there is to their problems then meets the eye This is the second book in the Shepherd s Heart Series The characters were well developed in this story and I was impressed with the storyline

    29. These so far are deep readers Real life challenges within the realm of the written material I love the character developments, and era description It just pulls you into her world She is a strong writer.

    30. Good ReadOverall I loved this story A few things could ve been expounded on , but for an uplifting, easy, western romance it was great I ll be reading the next two one for sure.
